Team Little Rock 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Published Sept. 4, 2014 By 010914 Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. -- Base members will remember those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, with a ceremony Thursday in building 430, the base' s deployment processing center. Additionally, the ceremony will recognize our nation's first responders and men and women in the Armed Forces for their resiliency and steadfast commitment to freedom. The deployment processing center is home to the base's Sept. 11 Memorial monument made from has two pieces of World Trade Center steel. One piece is from the New York Fire Department Academy (the one shaped like the state of Arkansas) and the other is from the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey (an I-Beam). -- 30 -- Media interested in covering the ceremony must RSVP by calling Public Affairs at 987-3434 no later than 4 p.m. , Wednesday, Sept. 10, to coordinate base access. Media members covering the event must arrive at the front (Vandenberg) gate no later than 7:30 a.m., Sept. 11.
