Little Rock Air Force Base provided families of deployed members with dinner and allowed these families an opportunity to connect, not only with each other, but also with leadership and helping agencies to address any concerns they may have had.

Innovation leads to a Cold Case closure with a silver lining
Two years ago, Office of Special Investigations Special Agent Patrick Pipkins did, what his Chief of the OSI Cold Case Team called, “some amazing work,” to locate an Air Force deserter who went missing in 1984. At the time of her disappearance it was believed the airman took off with a married man who had parentally kidnapped his 4-year-old son. Neither the airman, the man, nor the son were heard from since 1984.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine arrives at LRAFB
Medics at the 19th Medical Group received the first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine here Jan. 13, and inoculations are scheduled to begin Jan. 14. Distribution of the vaccine will follow DoD’s phased priority plan. The first allocation of the vaccine will be used to immunize first responders and front line medical workers, those who provide essential national security and installation functions, personnel slated for deployment overseas within the next three months, and Military and Civilian Airmen at the highest risk for developing severe illness from COVID-19.

Herk Nation, mission partners tackle JFE exercise
Little Rock launched six C-130J Super Hercules in support of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School’s Joint Forcible Entry exercise at the Nevada Test and Training Range, Dec. 6. The USAF Weapons School teaches graduate-level instructor courses that provide the world's most advanced training in weapons and tactics employment. The culmination of the course is the Advanced Integration phase in which all assets combine in challenging scenarios, simulating current and future threat arenas.

Keeping Airmen safe: 19th OSS AFE upgrades parachutes
Airmen assigned to the 19th Operations Support Squadron Aircrew Flight Equipment shop are receiving and training on a new parachute, the BA-30, to maximize safety and readiness while accelerating the change needed for mission execution in a rapidly changing environment. The handful of AFE Airmen, chosen based on their parachute rigging ability and experience, were sent to hands-on training for five days coordinated by Air Mobility Command to learn about the fundamentals, build up, inspection and repack of the low profile parachute.

The 19th, 314th and 189th Airlift Wings and 913th Airlift Group participated in a Total Force Integration skills competition on Nov. 12 at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas.Hosted by the 314th AW, the competition, referred to as a turkey shoot, contained four phases with the purpose of challenging and developing multi-capable Airmen by enhancing

19th AW DDRP wins DoD award 2 years in a row
The office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness announced the 19th Airlift Wing Drug Demand Reduction Program as the winner of the 30th annual Secretary of Defense Community Drug Awareness Award, which is given to one installation from each military branch, making Little Rock Air Force Base the 2020 U.S. Air Force category winner for the second year in a row.

GFLR 21-01: testing ground for new capability
Army and Air Force members participate in a sling load training event during Green Flag Little Rock 21-01 at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, Oct. 19, 2020. The sling load training exercise was the first in Air Mobility Command history to involve a Polaris MRZR ATV. Previously, this type of training had been conducted with a HMVEE and this new training will help contingency response teams react faster with lighter gear.
