    U.S. Air Force Capt. Michael DeSandre, 41st Airlift Squadron pilot, visits the tombstone of Pvt. Joseph Costa Jr. at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, France, June 3, 2019. Costa was very close to DeSandres’ family, and he took this opportunity to pay his respects. The men and women of the U.S. military remain forever indebted to WWII veterans who demonstrated the selfless service and sacrifice that characterizes the Greatest Generation in defense of global peace and security.
