As a 61st Airlift Squadron loadmaster, Nystrom performed Joint Army Airborne Air Training (JA/ATT) at Fort Lawson, where he professionally executed his loadmaster duties allowing 957 paratroopers to train and hone their parachutist skills.

Additionally, he was called upon to crew an Aeromedical Evacuation mission and safely delivered 23 patients to a higher level of critical care.

Finally, Nystrom served as a Range Assistant to accelerate Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) for LRAFB personnel. His efforts aided every TLR member to safely fire a full magazine from their primary weapon system.
