The Economic Impact Analysis provides information on the estimated economic effect a base/installment/activity has on its local and economic area. Those areas include residences of both the majority of the military and civilian employees.

An estimated 3,090 indirect jobs were created with an estimated annual dollar value of $102,557,100, according to the report. The overall economic impact on the economy was $526,632,871.

The EIA for FY2005 reported an estimated 3,031 indirect jobs with an annual dollar value of $109,279,674 and a total economic impact of $554,453,175 on the economy, an economic impact difference of $27,820,304, down five percent from last year.

According to Lieutenant Colonel David Marzo, commander of the 314th Comptroller Squadron, the drop in numbers is nothing to be concerned about.

"There is no cause for concern from a long-term perspective in terms of the base's impact," says Colonel Marzo.

Marzo says the slight drop in economic impact is because the base did not have as many miltiary construction dollars as it did in 2005.

"Contruction dollars can be very cyclical and last year just happened to be particularly strong as compared to this year," said Colonel Marzo.

Also, the dip can be contributed to the less amount of money paid to local health care providers for the care of military personnel as this data was not collected in FY2005.

"Last year we used an estimate but this year we had actual data which provides a more realistic picture," adds Marzo. "Overall, the prognosis for 2007 and beyond is very favorable- Little Rock will remain a vibrant economic force in the local area."
