  • Senate confirms Kendall to be Air Force Secretary

    Frank Kendall won confirmation from the Senate July 26 to be the 26th Secretary of the Air Force, placing an official with decades-long service in defense issues in the top civilian job at a time when the department is navigating new global challenges and wide-reaching modernization efforts.
  • Air Force makes more rights available for housing tenants

    The Department of Defense issued policy guidance in February 2021 on the implementation and timing of the remaining four provisions of the Tenant Bill of Rights, which expands protection measures for military families living in privatized housing.

  • Air Force “What a Wonderful World” photo contest launches July 1

    The Air Force Photo Contest launched July 1, 2021. The theme for this year’s contest, which runs July 1 – 31, is “What a Wonderful World.” The contest highlights and celebrates the art of photography created by Airmen, Guardians and their families and is open to ages 6 and older in five separate categories. Winners will be announced a few months later with the top three photographers in each category winning Amazon gift cards of $500 for first place, $400 for second and $200 for third.
  • Current PCS, household goods affected by supply shortages

    According to a newly released communiqué from the Air Force’s Personal Property Activity Headquarters, “Department of Defense demand this peak (PCS) season has greatly exceeded commercial industry capabilities, largely due to resource constraints associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Per industry, this resulted in a 25% decrease in their labor pool, resulting in (decreased) personal property movement capacity necessary to support private sector and government demand.”
