The Air Force Association, a non-profit organization, has supported the U.S. Air Force for 70 years by honoring Airmen and their heritage.

The AFA's distinguished legacy continued at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, by recognizing U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Riocornell Golo, 19th Medical Operations Squadron pediatrics medical technician, on March 16, 2016, as the 2015 AFA Airman of the Year for the 19th Airlift Wing.

"Golo is a very determined Airman," said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Laura Loggins, 19th Medical Operations Squadron pediatric clinic non-commissioned officer in charge. "She set her goals and was able to achieve them with her determination. She also interacts with patients very well. The parents and children love her."

Airmen similar to Golo are recognized throughout the Air Force at national, state and local levels.

"There are a lot of awards that service members and civilians can receive through the AFA," said Jerry Reichenbach, AFA Arkansas state and the David D. Terry chapter president. "The AFA recognizes 12 Airmen as Outstanding Airmen of the Year. There are also awards for the Air National Guard, the Air Force Reserves and people working with the aerospace community."

Winners are awarded a complimentary one-year AFA membership.
In addition to recognizing Airmen, the AFA also supports the Air Force by providing financial aid.

"The AFA has a tremendous amount of things to offer," Reichenbach said. "There are programs such as scholarships, supplemental insurance and medical plans for people who apply."

The Jacksonville chapter's goal is to continue supporting military organizations in the local area.

"The AFA has been the force behind the force for 70 years," Reichenbach said. "We want to continue serving the Air Force for the next 70."
