Inclement weather notification procedures Published Dec. 13, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Rochelle Sollars 19th Airlift Wing Public Affairs LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- With the winter months fast approaching, base personnel need to be aware of the inclement weather notification procedures for late reporting or reduced operations for the base. "We don't want anyone out in hazardous road conditions if we can help it," said Bob Oldham, 19th Airlift Wing Public Affairs chief. "We've got a number of tools people can use to get the information they need if there's snow and ice." Aside from the option of a recall, servicemembers can always call 987-HERK or 987-HERC to get up-to-date information about when and if they should be reporting to work the day inclement weather strikes. They may also receive updates at the Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., Facebook page and www.littlerock.af.mil. Weather notifications may be broadcast by local media. "Once the decision has been made, we pass the word on to all four local TV stations and the major local radio stations," said Arlo Taylor, 19th Airlift Wing Public Affairs media relations. When in doubt, Airmen should always call their supervisors if they're uncertain about closures or late reporting instructions, added Mr. Taylor.
