The Chosin Few tour the base
James Nielsen, Korean War veteran and former prisoner of war; Frank Abasciano, Korean War veteran; and Grace Konisky listen as Tech. Sgt. James Allen, 19th Security Forces Squadron combat arms instructor, describes the capabilities of the Barrett.50 caliber rifle system May 21 during a tour of the combat arms training and maintenance facility. Mr. Nielsen and Mr. Abasciano were part of a group of soldiers that survived the epic 17-day battle in the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War when 120,000 Chinese Communist Force’s soldiers attacked the U.S. Army’s Tenth Corps and another two Chinese Communist Forces divisions attacked the 1st Marine Division during one of the peninsula's coldest recorded winters.
