Are you outstanding or out processing? Published Oct. 28, 2009 By Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Brinkley 19th Airlift Wing, command chief LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- As I'm typing this article, the sacrifice of our people who have answered our nation's call is even more prominent in my mind. In the past 48 hours, we've lost 22 members in combat. Each of us must again ask ourselves how our conduct reflects upon our service branch and country. You see, your service is not about you, but it's about maintaining America's way of life. When I look across our base, I ask you: Are you part of the group that is performing in an outstanding fashion; or are you one of the few who will be out-processing because you have dishonored our uniform? There cannot be a middle ground when you reflect on what our people are doing daily for the cause of freedom. Outstanding Airmen take their duties and responsibilities seriously. They understand the team is more important than the individual. When you walk into the workplace of an outstanding Airman, they are sharply dressed while displaying great technical and professional competence. These Airmen fully comprehend they cannot separate their off-duty life from when they wear their uniform. Conversely the .05 percent who are out-processing our ranks haven't embraced the concepts of team and duty. Those who put themselves above the rest in a negative sense by their mindset and conduct end self-eliminating from our ranks. The reality is military service isn't for everyone, yet it does not lessen our mandate to take care of our nation. Little Rock Air Force Base is busting at the seams with outstanding Airmen, and I am proud to be on your team. Life is about choices and I encourage you to make the right choice. Are you outstanding or out-processing? Combat Airlift!
