Team Little Rock demonstrated its first responder capabilities during a major accident response exercise July 24, 2013, at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.

The MARE gave an opportunity for TLR emergency response personnel to test readiness during a simulated disaster and evaluate emergency procedures. A MARE can simulate a number of events such as an airplane crash, a hazardous spill or an active shooter.

This exercise simulated an attack and explosion outside of the base's University Center providing the medical group a chance to evaluate their mass causality plan.

Key players during the MARE include the fire department, security forces and the medical group. TLR officials also coordinated with emergency responders from the local area, a critical relationship during a crisis.

A MARE is one way to train and test a base's readiness during the course of the year.
