Housing project continues to build success

LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- The base family housing privatization project continues to successfully build upon the progress of the past 10 months.

To date, the Hunt-Pinnacle Communities re-launch of the project has yielded 10 new units and 79 renovated units. HP Communities officials are showing residents what they can expect for the newly renovated housing at their Open House at 150 Illinois Avenue open until 6 p.m. today.

According to HP Communities Project Manager Mary Holliday-Sopko, the renovations are drawing a lot of rave reviews from tenants and guests.

"We're having no problem renting renovated homes," she said. "We offer members a pet-friendly home, utilities included in rent and amenities like free swimming pool, clubhouse and business center [at the welcome center]. Rent amounts are based on the rank of the person leasing the home for military members and are market based for retirees."

According to base housing officials, the renovated units feature new kitchen cabinets, counters, sinks and appliances; new light fixtures, doors, paint and floor coverings throughout the units; and new ventilation duct work and insulation in the attic as needed.

New construction is underway in Lakeview Estates west of the base lake where 30 new units are under construction; and in Upper Meadow Wood Estates by the base hospital, where 21 units are in progress.

Despite rumors to the contrary, HP Communities' project is on schedule and making lots of progress, according to Joanne Carlon, 19th Civil Engineer Squadron Capital Asset Management Element chief.

"We have been very pleased with how the HPC management here on the ground has assimilated with the rest of Team Little Rock," Ms. Carlon said. "We are extremely pleased with the attitude and efforts of each one of the HPC's staff members.
