2010 promotion chronic critical shortage skills program

  • Published
Air Force Personnel Center officials recently released the calendar year 2010 promotion chronic critical shortage skills program list for the staff through master sergeant promotion cycles.

The promotion CCS skills program provides flexibility to target critically-manned skills for increased promotion opportunities. The list is identified and released in conjunction with each promotion cycle and is not an Air Force retraining list.

This list will affect the E-7 promotion release, which took place on May 27, the E-6 promotion release, which is expected on June 17 and the E-5 release, which is expected on Aug. 19.

A review of the CCS skills list is conducted annually to ensure skills don't remain on the list indefinitely. CCS skills receive an increased promotion opportunity 1.2 times higher than the normal rate.

An assessment of current and projected manning, pending mergers/conversions, mission changes, relative heath of ladder manning and the number of promotion eligibles were considered. Promotion opportunity is limited and CCS promotions are at the expense of non-CCS skills; however, impact to non-CCS skills is minimal. Every Air Force Specialty Code maintains promotion opportunity and the enlisted promotion system remains one based on equal selection opportunity.

The calendar year 2010 staff through master sergeant CCS skills are:
