Most children at 14 years old dream of driving to prom and seeing the light at the end of the high school tunnel. For Andreas Bradley, Flightline Upper Academy scholar, by the age of 14, he has already put himself on the fast track of success by earning the Youth of the year award.

Coming from a single parent household, some would already count young Andreas out, but with the help of his mom and the supportive community on Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., he threw himself into helping not only himself, but other members of his Little Rock family through his volunteerism and academic success.

“I like taking the time to be active and be a part of the community,” Bradley said. “It just feels good to help other people.”

This selfless giving is not new for Bradley. He regularly finds time to volunteer during activities such as the Harvest Festival, Family Fest and the Armed Forces children run.

“The best part of my volunteering was seeing kids smile after laying out the eggs for the Harvest Festival,” Bradley said.

Not only are his efforts seen from his family and friends, but also with his youth center mentors.

“Volunteering is just something he does,” said Otis Williams, 19th Force Support Squadron youth sports coordinator. “He’s the kind of kid who doesn’t mind helping where help is needed. He already embodies the core values of the Air Force.”

Having accomplished so much, this 14 year old is not slowing down any time soon. He is showing everyone that Integrity, Service and Excellence doesn’t have an age requirement.

“I was just thankful to win,” Bradley said.
