Photo Essay: NDI Published Oct. 4, 2013 Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. -- The Non-Destructive Inspection is a small shop with a big mission - to provide support for all four of the wings on Little Rock Air Force base with only 13 Airmen. The main goal for NDI is to use scientifically-sound methods to inspect aircraft and aircraft parts. Some of the techniques they use include Eddie currents, magnetic particles, penetrant, ultrasonics and x-ray. Eddie currents, which are localized-electrical currents induced in a conductor by varying magnetic fields, help identify defects, corrosion, pitting and to ensure safety of flight and safety of the parts Little Rock Air Force Base is using.
