Little Rock Air Force Base Dining Facility will be increasing and decreasing the prices of select items effective Feb. 10.

The price increases, attributed to the rise in cost of meat, dairy and produce, will have a slight impact on Airmen attending the dining facility.

"The prices were adjusted, both up and down, in order to accurately reflect our cost of goods," said 2nd Lt. Natalie Lane, 19th Force Support Squadron food service officer. "The prices of more easily obtained items are decreasing to reflect our lower costs. They will vary widely based on the type of menu item. Prices may increase anywhere from 20-60 percent."

Because the Air Force hasn't adjusted the prices to account for the increases in more than a year, the changes are more significant in items such as produce and dairy.

Along with price increases, the dining facility is also revising the menu options available to military members. The new changes include healthier menu options and a wider variety of food choices such as the new "Drive the Deli" initiative. This option consists of six different preset sandwich choices with a limited time choice signature sandwich. This initiative will assist the DFAC in determining which items to keep on the menu.

The Cooking Light option will also be replaced by "Chopsticks" for a trial period as well. This option features cuisines from different cultures such as Asian, Latin American and Italian.
