The Leadership Greater Little Rock program has graduated more than 1,300 community leaders from its training program. Each year approximately 50 class members are selected from hundreds of applicants to participate in the nine-month program. One day a month, October through June, the class meets at a different Central Arkansas venue to explore topics through expert speakers, panelists, tours and group presentations. Last week the group visited Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. The group met for lunch at the Hercules Dining Facility where they were briefed by Col. Scott Brewer, 314th Airlift Wing commander, about the base and the three wings that call The Rock home. The tour consisted of booths set up by security forces, explosive ordinance disposal, survive evasion resistance and escape, aircraft maintenance, a tour of a C-130 as well as demonstrations put on by the fire department and a K-9 unit. The group learned how the base contributes to the economic development and quality and of life within the state.
