Team Little Rock Airman wins Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award

Every year the Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award is awarded to the most outstanding maintenance individual who demonstrates the job performance, efficiency, knowledge and Airmanship one needs to be a well-rounded maintenance professional. This award is the most sought after in the maintenance community. From executing day-to-day operations to exceeding standards in the workplace, this award portrays outstanding dedication to the mission and the Air Force.

Senior Airman Simon Graves, a 314th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron aircraft maintenance journeyman, performed his duties above and beyond and earned Air Force level recognition with the 2013 Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award, raising him above the ranks.

Graves proved himself to be an excellent maintenance technician, repairing 175 maintenance discrepancies and leading his team to a 100 percent quality assurance personnel evaluation in April 2013. His continued achievements, work ethic and attitude led to his selection as Senior Airmen Below-the-Zone. Graves was stratified amongst his peers and No. 1 of more than 60 Airmen in his aircraft maintenance unit. He accomplished 175 pre-flight inspections, supporting more than 8,000 flying hours and 3,000 sorties for six major commands and 11 nations.

Graves exceptional skills as a maintenance professional reflect great credit upon himself, the mission of the 314th Airlift Wing and the U.S. Air Force.
