People don't often see them; but they're there. Mixed in the crowd, quietly observing and making sure everything runs smoothly, is the 19th Airlift Wing protocol crew. Approximately 65 ceremonies per year including change of commands and aircraft arrivals, the 36 distinguished visitor tours and the more than 450 DV lodging requests, that Team Little Rock Airmen participate in, are all coordinated and polished by protocol. They work an event from the time it's an idea to the moment they're picking up chairs, shaking hands and counting another event successful. So the next time you're at a retirement ceremony or an annual awards dinner, take a moment to look around. You'll see them in the shadows, behind the curtains or standing by the last row of seats directing traffic, keeping order and controlling the chaos that no one knows is going on. In this photo essay, protocol is preparing for a visit by a three-star general.
