JA: Too Legit To Acquit

The base's legal team of six military attorneys, one civilian attorney, eight paralegals and three civilian support staff members, sees nearly 1,600 clients per year on a number of legal issues. Their areas of expertise span military justice, civil law, claims, environmental law, ethics and contracting.

Their legal services are available to Team Little Rock military members, military family members and military retirees. Services include: free tax and legal assistance, to include powers of attorney, wills and medical directive preparation and notary services. This year alone, the legal office has saved clients approximately $300,000 in legal fees and has processed 2,500 notaries, 1,470 powers of attorney, and approximately 450 wills and advanced medical directives.

The office also assists the wing commanders, unit commanders and first sergeants with military justice and command issues. Legal has completed six courts-martial, six Article 15s, 41 administrative discharges and four administrative discharge boards. Lastly, the office approves the constitution and bylaws and fundraising requests for private organizations.       

Legal assistance walk-in hours are Monday 2 - 3 p.m. and Friday 9 - 10 a.m. Wills are by appointment only. Powers of attorney and notary services are available from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day except on Wednesday when the office closes at 2:30 p.m. for training.
