Pumpkin Patrol on Duty Published Oct. 30, 2014 By Senior Airman Kaylee Clark 19th Airlift Wing Public Affairs LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- Today from 6- 8 p.m., children on base will be knocking on the doors of base-housing residents. To ensure safety for the children and peace-of-mind for the parents, the 19th Security Forces Squadron will place the pumpkin patrol on duty throughout the event. There will be 52 pumpkin patrol volunteers from various units, patrolling all base housing streets. Anyone noticing things out of the ordinary should let one of the volunteers know immediately, or call the 19th Security Forces Squadron law enforcement desk at (501) 987-3221. The patrol will be at the Halloween event for deterrence, to show their presence and make the children and parents feel safe. If you are going to be away from your home during trick-or-treat hours, lock your doors. The following safety tips will allow all Halloween trick-or-treaters and parents a fun holiday and safe night: · Wear a reflective belt, glow stick, etc. to help make your kids more visible to drivers. · Utilize the sidewalks in housing, and be careful of crossing the streets. · Do not walk along the streets without a parent/guardian unless you are of proper age. · If there are no lights on at a residence, it generally means they are not participating so do not knock. · Never enter a residence if asked to come inside. · Inspect all items before consumption. · Be respectful and courteous to people's yards & vehicles. · Keep vehicular traffic in housing areas to a minimum. · Do not drive your children door to door. Additionally, there will be two lost & found stations with one located at the 19th Medical Group parking lot, and the other at the Youth Center. Parents can assist by placing a contact card with their children, in order for Security Forces to contact the parents if a child is found. Report any suspicious activity or a lost child to the base defense operation center at (501) 987-3221.
