The 19th Logistics Readiness Squadron team 1 defeated the 19th Maintenance Squadron during an intramural basketball game Tuesday night.

The 19th LRS was full of energy as they prepared to take on the 19th MXS. The team was confident and players from both sides were anxious to get the game started.

Players from the 19th MXS didn't have much to say at the start of the game, but one player claimed that their team was ready to take on LRS.

"I think we'll pull this win out," said Senior Airman Darryl McRae, 19th MXS player. Apprehension could be heard through his voice, but the 19th MXS players seemed determined.

Both sides started the game off strong, but the 19th LRS quickly took the lead. Throughout the first quarter of the game, the maintainers put up a fight, yet they constantly trailed the LRS Airmen. However, defense was too strong for the 19th MXS to catch up.

At halftime, the 19th LRS had a 24-point lead on the maintenance specialists.

19th MXS players hoped for a turnaround as the second half of the game started. But that didn't happen.

The 19th LRS held their lead on the maintainers. The 19th MXS made one last ditch effort to catch up, but a victory just wasn't in their toolkit.

At the sound of the buzzer, the final score was 65-45.

The maintenance Airmen walked away from the game with their heads held high. Though the 19th LRS ended with a 20-point lead, the maintainers didn't just give the game away. All Airmen left the game soaked in sweat from the competition.

"Even though I don't think all of our players knew about the game earlier tonight, our team still had it from the start," said Airman Dustin Murphy, 19th LRS player. "We stuck to our defense and came out strong early in the game and kept up the momentum."
