History
March 19, 2004, the 314th Airlift Wing received its first C-130J Super Hercules. The stretch C-130J-30 number 02-0314 was the first J-model stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base and the first assigned to the active-duty U.S. Air Force. The primary mission of the C-130 aircraft remained unchanged with aircrews continuing to perform the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The J model offered improvements to the C-130 including a modern glass cockpit with digital avionics, an improved electrical system, new engines and propellers, and an enhanced cargo handling and delivery system. In addition, the C-130J aircraft was designed for a three-person flight crew (pilot, copilot, and loadmaster) instead of the five-person flight crew of the previous models.
