Watch your step Published May 14, 2015 By 19th Civil Engineer Squadron 19th Airlift Wing LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- Base Natural Resource officers remind people jogging and walking on base to be observant and watch for snakes and other animals. When one comes upon a snake, simply stop and back off. Do not try to kill it because snakes are beneficial to our base ecosystem. They eat hundreds of mice, rats and frogs each year. Most snakes found on base are not venomous and do not pose a threat. If one goes out at night, carry a flashlight so you can see what is on the ground. For more information, call the 19th Civil Engineer Squadron natural resources manager, at (501) 987-3681.
