No one likes to think about divorce, but in the event you need information on divorce, the legal office can help.

Divorce is the legal ending of a marriage through the civilian court system.  A divorce is not the same as a legal separation.  Divorce can be both financially and emotionally stressful for all involved.

If you are considering divorce or separation, see one of our legal assistance attorneys or civilian family law attorney.  The attorney will be able to guide you and advise you on matters such as child support and custody, military pension division and benefits under the Uniformed Services Former Spouses' Protection Act.  There are a number of different rules for division of benefits, and those rules change depending on the length of the marriage and years of military service.

Did you know in the state of Arkansas, you can file for divorce "pro se" -- basically meaning "do-it-yourself."  Though it is still advised that you seek the advice of a legal assistance attorney or civilian family law attorney, a pro se divorce is usually simpler and much less expensive.

Though our legal assistance attorneys cannot go to court for you, they can still advise you about the issues and procedures in your case and the laws of the state in which you preside.
