Senior Airman Blakney, a 19th Maintenance Squadron aircraft metals technology journeyman, authored a C-130J computerized numeric milling program to manufacture nine core bolt spacers, an asset that is hard to produce and unavailable through supply channels. Furthermore, Blakney facilitated a Bio-Environmental survey for metal working on beryllium structures. This action allowed accurate monitoring of a hazardous metal and guided personnel on proper protective equipment required and disposal procedures. Finally, he repaired two aerospace ground equipment maintenance stands allowing for persistent flight maintenance to continue while giving them adequate fall protection.
