The Base Honor Guard is in many ways, the face of Little Rock Air Force Base according to U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jason Crumpton, 19th Force Support Squadron Honor Guard superintendent.

"We perform in front of the public on a daily basis, and many of them have never had any exposure to the Air Force," he said. "We serve as representatives of our service when we perform for a grieving family in honor of their loved one."

The honor guard performs at many military and civic ceremonies on base and around the state of Arkansas. However, their most important mission is conducting military funeral honors for deserving veterans. Last year honor guard performed at 126 ceremonies and 875 funerals.

Even though they've performed more than a thousand details, each one was carried out with the same up most respect. Their dedication to service has awarded them Air Mobility Command's honor guard of the year 2014.

"The honor guard takes great pride in the job we do," said Crumpton. "We constantly work to perfect our abilities in order to properly carry out our mission with dignity. We're always interested in finding new, sharp and motivated Airmen to join the ranks of Air Mobility Command's best honor guard and extend our legacy."
