Goals: Become a C-17 pilot, obtain a master’s degree in Homeland Security

Hobbies: Watching the Ohio State University football, traveling, working out, going to concerts

Staff Sgt. Schmidt received Distinguished Graduate from Airfield Management Tech School and finished his 5-level upgrade training two months ahead of schedule to enter into 7-level upgrade training. He was influential in standing up the F-35 Foreign Military Sales pilot training program at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Fort Smith, AR. He authored 9 Quick Reaction Checklists, 7 Operating Checklists, and created a non-standard parking plan for 8 aircraft.  His actions resulted in success of the first ever exercise at Ebbing, which included 8x F-35 aircraft, 74 TDY personnel, flying 60 sorties in 10 days. Staff Sgt. Schmidt has performed above his skill level and is integral in the Formal Training Unit mission at the 189th Airlift Wing, supporting 2,990 flying hours, 1,327 sorties, and the graduation of 208 C-130H student aircrew in fiscal year 2024.
