19th Maintenance Group welcomes new commander

– Col. Philip Dorsch relinquished command of the 19th Maintenance Group to Col. Amanda Sheets during a change of command ceremony at Little Rock Air Force Base, July 11, 2024. 

Col. Denny Davies, 19th Airlift Wing commander, presided over the ceremony attended by families, friends, members of the 19th MXG, and representatives from across Herk Nation. 

During his tenure with the 19th MXG, Dorsch led a group charged with oversight of two squadrons and a maintenance operations flight, including over 1,100 personnel and 31 C-130J Super Hercules aircraft performing worldwide airlift missions. 

With Dorsch’s departure, Team Little Rock welcomes Sheets who previously served as Chief of the Maintenance Division, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Directorate of Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection, Robins AFB, Georgia. 

In this position, she oversaw management of aircraft sustainment, munitions, support equipment, maintenance programs, and served as the functional and/or program manager for maintenance. Additionally, Sheets served as the command's primary focal point for establishing maintenance policy, procedures and Quality Assurance programs. 

Sheets received her commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.  

As an Air Force maintenance officer with more than 27 years in service, Sheets has served in a variety of positions throughout her active duty and reserve career obtaining experience on multiple aircraft platforms to include the B-52H Stratofortress, C-17 Globemaster III, HH-60 Pave Hawk, F-15E Strike Eagle, C-130E Hercules, KC-135 Stratotanker, C-5A Galaxy, C-40C Clipper and KC-46 Pegasus.
