LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- Col. Joseph Bonner, relinquished command of the 314th Operations Group to Col. Chad Overton during a change of command ceremony at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, June 13, 2024.
Col. Jonathan Tucker, 314th Airlift Wing commander, presided over the ceremony which was attended by family members of the incoming and outgoing commanders, members of the 314th OG, and representatives from across Herk Nation.
During his tenure with the 314th OG, Col. Bonner commanded the Department of Defense’s largest Mobility Air Force international military student training program, graduating more than 200 students, across 21 nations, resulting in $24.9 million dollars in Foreign Military Sales bolstering the relationships with key allied and partner nations.
Col. Overton previously served as director of operations for the 618th Air Operations Center Tanker Airlift Control Center at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. In this role, he guided the execution of daily air mobility operations providing strategic airlift, air refueling, global air mobility support and aeromedical operations around the world.
Colonel Overton entered the Air Force in 2002 through the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He completed specialized undergraduate pilot training in 2003 and served as an aircraft commander in the C-130E/H. He is currently a C-130J command pilot with more than 5,000 total hours and more than 1,000 combat flight hours.
