Name and Rank: Airman 1st Class Slater Knox

Unit: 19th Civil Engineer Squadron

Official Duty title: Explosive Ordnance Disposal team member

Hometown: Holly Springs, Mississippi

Time in service: 2 years

Time at Little Rock: 10 months

Goals: Complete Community College of the Air Force degree, earn Response Team Member Certification and deploy to a combat zone.

Hobbies: Pickleball, hiking, and working out

Knox is currently filling the EOD Munitions noncommissioned officer in charge position, where he manages 57,000 explosive items that enable regional response support, including over 38 off-base emergencies over the last year.

Additionally, he built a two-hour drone defense/camouflage concealment course, syncing with the Wing Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) program manager and meshing U.S. Marine Corps talking points. He taught four classes that prepared 36 engineers for new threats.

Finally, Knox is also the Vice President of the Squadron Booster Club and recently led an Air Force Special Warfare Recruiting Monster Mash event, leading a five-Airman team and 21 Special Warfare Candidates through a grueling seven-hour workout to simulate the stressors of combat.
