As the communications focal point NCOIC with the 189th Communications Squadron, Kirkpatrick was instrumental to the migration to One Base One Network, an Air Force initiative to reduce the amount of equipment needed for a base to function. This will decrease cost, maintenance, and infrastructure requirements, with the greatest benefit expected for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves.

Additionally, Kirkpatrick accelerated change through innovation by leading the implantation of ShadowProject, a program that will streamline patching reducing vulnerabilities on computers across Herk Nation.
