Fiscal year end is approaching, so it's time to take action to ensure the items and services that are needed are received. Acquisition planning is the key to meeting those needs. While use of the Government Purchase Card remains the preferred method for obtaining small-dollar items and services. Larger acquisitions require much more planning.

The 314th Contracting Squadron is finalizing the planning process to ensure support is available for end of fiscal year requirements.

"It's not too early to get requirements to the contracting squadron, even if they have not yet received funding," Lt. Col. Mitchell Appley, 314th Contracting Squadron commander. "By working your requirement now, we can have everything ready for award when funds are available."

Organizations should note two important milestones for processing purchase requests. For purchases over $100,000, which are not on an existing contract (GSA, AFWAY, etc), the Air Force Form 9 needs to be submitted to contracting by June 29.

All other AF Forms 9 need to be submitted to contracting by Aug. 20. Meeting these deadlines will enable contracting to provide you the best possible service. Additional information concerning AF Form 9 preparation, and any necessary paperwork to go along with it, can be obtained from our Customer Guide on our web page (from the secure base web page site, via Mission Support Group Home Page, under organizations (Contracting Squadron)). Please do not hesitate to contact me or my staff, as we strive to support your needs by being your business advisors.

Prepare an Air Force Form 9 for a contemplated purchase for requirements with special circumstances (availability of funds, finalizing requirements, etc.), route the form through the Automated Business Services System, and contracting will make every attempt to ensure those special needs are met.

The contracting squadron is here to support you and provide the supplies and services you need. By working together as soon as you have a requirement, we can ensure your needs will be met in a timely and effective manner.
