Craft Bazaar lights up holiday season Published Nov. 4, 2009 By Arlo Taylor 19th Airlift Wing Public Affairs LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- The Little Rock Spouses Club lights up the holiday season with its annual Holiday Craft Bazaar Saturday held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the fitness center. Admission to the bazaar is a $2 donation for adults and kids are admitted free. Little Rock Spouses Club activities raised more than $30,000 and those funds go to local and national charities for military families like the Little Rock AFB 1st Sergeants Fund, the USO, the Fisher House, base facilities like the library and youth programs, grants for local schools and scholarships for military family members. The bazaar is a base holiday tradition and offers an opportunity for people to get their early holiday shopping complete without the hustle and bustle of shopping centers and crowded parking lots. '"It's a wonderful way to get early Christmas shopping done while supporting local causes," said Jackie Clinton, LRSC president. "With good parking and so many options in one place, you can get a lot shopping done in one day." The bazaar also offers unique items from local artisans that can serve as reminders of a tour at Little Rock AFB. "Military people especially like to give people presents and purchase keepsakes from where we are stationed. [With so many vendors] you can find something here that represents your time here at Little Rock Air Force Base," said Mrs. Clinton. The vendor selection runs the gamut of handcrafted woodworks, fine art, folk art, embroidery and culinary art items. With this year's move to the fitness center, the event will offer shoppers more selection with more than 55 vendors. "There will be a really big selection of things to buy. By moving the bazaar to the fitness center this year, we will have more vendor space than ever before," said Christine Daugherty, Holiday Bazaar committee chairperson. "It's going to be a lot of fun and there will be a great selection of holiday presents and things to decorate your house." For more information, call Christine Daugherty 366-6241.
