Military Saves Week Feb. 22 to 26 Published Feb. 19, 2010 LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- Officials at the Little Rock Air Force Base Airman & Family Readiness Center are gearing up for the 2010 Military Saves Week and Military Youth Saves Week Feb. 22 - 26. The campaign promotes financial readiness among Airmen and their families by encouraging them to effectively manage or eliminate their debt and to begin saving for the future. During this week, A&FRC at each installation will host a variety of programs designed to increase the financial literacy and financial management skills of Airmen and their families. The programs are: Feb. 22 Kick-off event - Combat savers protect their ID day 1030 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 668 Combat savers can bring sensitive documents and papers to be shredded and disposed of by the "Shredder Truck." There will be free refreshments and financial advice from the Airman and Family Readiness staff. Feb. 23 Combat savers sign-up day 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 668 New combat savers can sign up on-line and take the saver's pledge before choosing an initiative award from the "Saver's Tree." Feb. 24 Combat savers lunch and learn financial seminar 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Hangar 1080 Guest speaker Mr. Joe Holladay talks about "Avoiding the Debt Trap." A free lunch is served. Sign up no later than today. Feb. 25 Combat saver's information road show booths 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Base Exchange, Commissary and Razorback Dining Facility Booths provide budgeting, saving and investments, credit and debt management and car buying brochures and pamphlets. Saver's cards and information on how to register online for Military Saves Newsletter and websites will also be available. Feb. 26 Combat saver sports challenge 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. 5K route and fitness center "Be Physically Fit while being Fiscally Fit!" is the theme for the day. Sign up with a squadron points of contact to participate in the day's 5K run, tug of war or free throw contest. There is also a push-up and sit-up competition.
