The Army and Air Force Exchange Service Senior Enlisted Advisor visited here Feb. 24 to update members about exchange programs and attend the grand opening of the new Base Exchange Feb. 25.

Chief Master Sgt. Jeffry Helm toured AAFES facilities and talked with Little Rock chief master sergeants and first sergeants about premiums AAFES puts on customer feedback.

The chief said two AAFES programs that ensure service members and their families get the best value for their money is the exchange's Price Match and Shuttle Programs. The chief said Price Match is a great way to save money, especially on high-dollar items like TVs and appliances.

"If you want to buy something that is $17 off base and it is $23 at the BX, you can walk up to the cashier, tell them you can get the same product for $17 elsewhere and they will reduce the price on the spot. Cashiers can price match if the difference is less than $10," the chief said.

If a price difference is more than $10, customers will have to bring documentation for approval, according to AAFES officials.

Another way AAFES helps customers, especially those bases with small-and medium-sized exchanges, is through the Shuttle Program.

"If there is something you see in a sales flyer that we don't have at a smaller BX, all you have to do is tell an associate, and they'll have it shuttled in from a larger exchange. The great thing is if it's on sale today and the item doesn't arrive until the next week, the customer will get it at the sale price," the chief said.

The chief said the exchange is focused on supporting troops and their families.

"Don't walk out of AAFES if you're not happy. If you're not satisfied or can't find what you're looking for, talk to a manager," Chief Helm said. "We'll do our best to take care of you."

Many patrons may very well become speechless when they witness the 122,000-square-foot new exchange that opened next to the commissary Feb. 25. More than 2,600 customers made purchases at the grand opening event. The new BX puts all major base AAFES shopping facilities under one roof. In addition to main exchange, BXtra and Military Clothing Sales, the new building houses specialty stores Game Stop, Sports Shop and Décor Shop. The mall's expanded 192-seat food court adds Starbucks, Charley's and Taco Bell to old favorites Anthony's Pizza and Robin Hood.
