Base 1st Sgts honor one of their own Published April 12, 2010 By Master Sgt. Nickie Maggard 19th Comptroller Squadron LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- This year, the Little Rock Air Force Base's First Sergeants' Council established a scholarship fund in Master Sgt. Tracy Cisco's honor. The Master Sgt. Tracy Lane Cisco Memorial Scholarship Fund will award four grants each year to base Airmen in the ranks of E1 through E4. Two scholarships will be awarded each spring and two will be awarded for each fall term. Scholarships will be graded to those who best meet the standards and expectations Sergeant Cisco set forth for all of his Airmen. Anyone who's spent much time with Air Force first sergeants is probably familiar with their motto, "people are our business." First sergeants take great pride and satisfaction in helping "their" Airmen, through the best of times and unfortunately, through the worst of times. Through good times and bad, the enlisted corps learns quickly their unit first sergeant will be there to help them through. This helping creed was particularly true for Sergeant Cisco. He never hesitated to answer a call, lend a hand or point a fellow Airman in the right direction. For him, as with many first sergeants, it was a privilege and an honor to help his Airmen in times of need and to guide them toward getting the most out of their Air Force careers. Sergeant Cisco passed away in June 2008, following an accident at his home, but his passion to help Airmen lives on. Information on the scholarships and applications can be obtained at the base education office or from any unit first sergeant. The deadline for the next round of applications will be Sept. 15 for the fall term.
