Throughout ROCKI 19-06, Airmen assigned to the 19th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight responded efficiently and timely to enhance their skills in a simulated deployed environment showcasing the readiness the 19th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, April 16, 2019.

For approximately two weeks at the beginning of April 2019, EOD Airmen went out on numerous calls for simulated improvised explosive devices and simulated unexploded ordnances to protect personnel and power so the base could keep the mission going.

After they gathered their equipment and headed out to complete their mission, the EOD team documented the simulated ordnance and finally disposed of it.

“This exercise helped shake off the cobwebs and strengthen the confidence in our abilities especially with the new team members we have,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Caine Nielsen, 19th CES EOD team leader. “The new members being able to see team leaders operate was beneficial to build their confidence down range.”

Hands-on experience during ROCKI 19-06 gave members the ability to react in a controlled environment while also preparing Black Knights to be called to fight at a moment’s notice.
