19th Airlift Wing wins historical Doolittle award

The April 1942 air attack on Japan, launched from the aircraft carrier Hornet and led by Lt. Col. James H. Doolittle, was the most daring operation yet undertaken by the United States in the young Pacific War. The historical Doolittle Award, named after the aviation pioneer himself, is presented by the Air Force Historical Foundation to a U.S. Air Force unit each year for their significant contributions to airpower history.
