Fueilng aircraft, fueling Combat Aircraft

Senior Airman Kenneth Oakes, 19th Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels laboratory technician, tests a fuel sample for impurities Nov. 2, 2017, at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. One of the tests done each morning is testing the level of Fuel System Icing Inhibitor (FSII) in the fuel. This test determines the concentration of "Diethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether", which is the FSII additive used in fuel. The purpose of this additive is to combine with the water that is always present in fuel to keep it from freezing in the aircraft fuel tank and lines. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman Rhett Isbell)
