Senior Airman Kenneth Oakes, 19th Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels laboratory technician, tests a fuel sample for impurities Nov. 2, 2017, at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. One of the tests done each morning is testing the level of Fuel System Icing Inhibitor (FSII) in the fuel. This test determines the concentration of "Diethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether", which is the FSII additive used in fuel.
