Children who want to attend the 9:30 a.m. Protestant Sunday School service can now take the bus ... or van. "I thought about all the church buses and vans coming from off-base churches and picking up our kids out of base housing and transporting them to other churches, said Jo Ann Silvi, 314th Airlift Wing chapel. "I thought why can't we?"
Officials from the 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron have authorized active-duty members with a government driver's license to use a bus or van from their fleet for transportation between housing and the chapel. "Being able to have a van or bus come right to your driveway allows parents to send their children to a program right here on Little Rock Air Force Base," said Ms. Silvi
Volunteers take turns driving the transport on a route through the streets in base housing, beginning at 8:50 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School service. Children are returned at the conclusion of Sunday School or they can stay at the chapel if their parents attend the 11 a.m. service or pick them up.
Parents who would like their children to ride in the van to Sunday School can call the chapel at 987-6014 and arrange for pickup.
"We have classes available for ages three years to adults, as well as several other opportunities throughout the week for all ages," said Ms. Silvi. "My hope and prayer is that people at least attend the base chapel service, give us a try and see what we have to offer."
