LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- The Arnold Gate at Little Rock Air Force Base will be closed to all traffic beginning Oct. 11, 2021 through Jan. 27, 2022 for a construction project.

Commonly referred to as the “Back Gate,” the Arnold Gate is located at 399 Arnold Drive and is accessed from Arkansas Highway 107. The closure of both the inbound and outbound lanes is necessary for improvements to Arnold Drive. The construction work is expected to take approximately 108 days.

The Harris Road gate, also known as the “School Gate,” will serve as an alternate entrance. Following the Arnold Gate’s closure on Oct. 11, the Harris Road gate will be open to both inbound and outbound traffic Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., on a trial-basis. During this time, the installation will assess the utilization of the Harris Road gate to determine if the extended gate hours help mitigate traffic entering and exiting the base. Should the Harris Road gate go underutilized, it will revert back to its initial operating hours of 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., or adjust to whatever is most appropriate.

The Harris Road gate is located at 2905 Harris Road, with the nearest major intersection being at General Samuels Road. The Vandenberg Gate, or the “Main Gate,” located at 1500 Vandenberg Blvd, will remain open 24/7.

Lakeview Housing residents are also advised to use Alabama Drive during this first phase of repair, which is scheduled to last until late November.

If there are any delays or significant changes to this closure, another release will be disseminated.
