Airman 1st Class Zachary Perkins, 19th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, was named the 2017 Air Force Entertainer of the Year runner-up in Group 1 - Non-Vocal category for dance December 12, 2017.

Perkins, a four-year animation dancer, danced to Voice of Reason by Haywire in the online video talent contest sponsored by the Air Force Services Activity.

“Dance is something I do for physical fitness and fun,” Perkins said. “Receiving recognition for it through the contest is heartwarming.”

The winners were chosen via online voting and the finalists were reviewed by a panel of professional judges.

The acts were judged on technical excellence, showmanship and treatment and interpretation of the material. Perkins was awarded $500 which he intends to invest in his dancing.

“I want to buy a new pair of dance shoes,” Perkins laughed. “My old ones are pretty ragged.”
