Little Rock Improv Troop

About Us:
The Little Rock Improv Troop (LIT) was created by Tech. Sgt. Tahlia Robinson after recognizing a need for interactive, entertaining, yet educational SAPR training. After realizing that the previous "Death By PowerPoint" style of SAPR training proved to be ineffective, Tech. Sgt. Robinson and a group of experienced Victim Advocates formed the first Little Rock Improv Troop.

The base populace is the primary target audience for LIT. At Little Rock AFB, LIT will perform at First term Airmen Course (FTAC), Airman Leadership School (ALS), Squadron Commander’s calls, and select events. The skits vary in length from 10 minutes to 2 hours. The key to success is to be creative and reach out – there are multiple other venues across base that would benefit from a performance. Partnering with the other “helping” agencies to increase awareness is crucial. LIT works with “helping” agency offices (SAPR, FAP, EO, Mental Health, etc.) to identify base-wide trends and strategies to combat those trends, and to expand LIT to other topics beyond sexual assault, i.e. domestic violence, and suicide.

The improvisational nature of the group makes it a flexible tool for commanders to educate their Airmen. LIT can also be used to spread the message of sexual assault prevention and response throughout the local community as well. The SAPR, FAP, EO, offices networks with local colleges, police departments, and rape crisis centers to broaden base of influence, using LIT as part of the collaboration toolkit. An informed/educated community means a safer environment for everyone.

Mission Statement:
The Little Rock Improv Troop is a prevention tool with means to address sexual assaults, domestic violence, sexual harassment, as well as other inter- and intra-personal violence scenarios, by educating our base populace and community partners through improvisational skits.

LRAFB develops acting troupe to combat improper behaviors
Three Little Rock Air Force Base helping agencies are working together to develop the Little Rock Improv Troop, with the mission of combatting inappropriate behaviors across the base with improvisational theater.

Representatives from the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, Equal Opportunity and Family Advocacy offices are the core group of the acting troupe who will perform short skits loosely based on real- world scenarios these representatives have faced in their work.

“Its purpose is prevention and awareness,” said Karen Hubbard, SAPR victim advocate. “Our idea is to put out real scenarios and how to intervene if necessary, or who to help you intervene if you have to.”
